Acadiana Stars was founded by the Brodhead Family, Garry & Andrea, in 1987. The program was built in order to serve area girls with a greater purpose of instilling in them self worth, work ethic, discipline, and self motivation through the game of basketball. The girls program became so successful that boys are now part of our Acadiana Stars family. Garry and Andrea believe in teaching the basic fundamentals of basketball with a fun, uplifting, competitive spirit. This developmental league within the Acadiana area has been very successful in teaching these fundamentals of basketball: passing, ball handling, shooting, offense and defense, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The main objective of the Acadiana Stars is to provide area athletes the opportunity to participate in an atmosphere of competitive basketball in order to further improve skills, fundamentals, and knowledge of the game of women's and men's basketball. Since the Acadiana Stars existence, it has consistently achieved success competing at the state as well as the national level.

It is a priority of the program, that while teaching and perfecting the athlete's skills of the game of basketball, they be taught the importance of incorporating the skills of work ethic, discipline, and sportsmanship into their everday lives to be better prepared for the game of LIFE.
